This blog is absolutely nostalgic that I want to update it like I did more than a year ago.

…but unfortunately I have grown up too much to use this blog again. I definitely have to admit that this blog is a proof to my improving writing skills ever since I started it.

Taking Over!

As said in the previous post, this will be more of a Ragnarok Online blog, however I’m in a hiatus for the game due to college and extra-curricular activities. Good news though, Prue Halliwell’s Amistr reached level 70 already, and evolved. Although I can’t show Cobalt right now because my account isn’t really loaded. I’ll try to load it up so it won’t burn itself within the week (perhaps the holiday on Friday).

Sis bought me a spanking, brand-new Nintendo DS Lite. Of course it came with an R4DS flash card – and now I can download all the games I want to play instead of buying them one by one (they cost a lot, to tell you frankly). I wrapped up all the Phoenix Wright games (I to III) and now I’m rather inspired to do a slash fanfic for it. DX (For those who don’t know I write both yuri and yaoi.)

I’m going to post what I’ve got in mind soon. Right now I have to get back to Chemical Equations and Transcendental Curve tracing. Oh God, please help me in the last few weeks of this term, I really need it.

First Blog Post using MSWord 2007

Honestly I’m rather impressed with this feature of Microsoft Word 2007. Looks like ScribeFire can retire now that I’ve found a new blogging tool – but MSWord07 can’t replace ScribeFire’s adaptability to blog while you’re surfing, especially if you’re stealing getting memes from other people and you feel like retyping them instead of copy-pasting. So I’m a late bloomer – I recently decided to learn 2007 edition of Office when I finally had the free time. I figured I don’t want to learn yet while there were a lot of papers to be done.

Anyway, I’ve decided to turn this into more of an RO blog.

Speaking of Ragnarok Online, I’ve created an Alchemist named after my favorite character in Charmed – Prue Halliwell. Actually I wanted “Pruedence” but it turns out it was already taken :c. She’s the owner of my fourth Homunculus – this time an Amistr. I’ve just recently started. I’m going to post once I get a satisfactory one, and once it reaches level 50.

First Tamagotchi on my V4

I was shopping at Toy Kingdom SM Ayala for a gift for my goddaughter and my eyes saw The Tamagotchi Version 4 on the shelf. I was staring at it for quite a while, and finally I’ve decided to get into the virtual pet thing again. The friendly store tender assisted me in choosing a color, and pointed towards the Tamagotchi with the orange design, along with drawings of bees and honeycomb patterns. I took his suggestion, and yes the other colors were either pastel or pink. He gave it to me and proceeded to the cashier.

When I got home I wrapped the present for my goddaughter and started the Tamagotchi. I had quite a hard time opening the packaging because its tightly closed plastic – the ones that the action figures use. Well anyway, I wasn’t new to Tamagotchi so I skipped a lot of parts on the instruction sheet. I pulled the safety tab to start it up, found a push pin and pressed the reset button carefully to refresh it more. With the desktop computer turned on I logged in the DLSU website and synchronized the time to our university’s clock. LOL. Now I have another watch that tells DLSU’s exact time. (My wristwatch is synced with our home clock and my mobile is synced with internet time.)

A few seconds later the egg on the screen hatched and the word BOY appeared along with the baby Tamagotchi sprite on the screen. It was a black circle. Yay. It was quite annoying to take care of it actually; I could recall all the other Tamagotchis I’ve played with were like this on the first few hours of play. Similar to a baby in real life, perhaps.

I tried using the PC connecting thing and logged in TamaTown. Frankly I was impressed that Tamagotchis got to grow this advanced. The TamaTown looked nice, although the design is intended for a younger audience so it was filled with pastel colors and cute style drawings. I wasn’t furious or disgusted, in fact it brought back the child in me again! LOL. When I logged out of TamaTown my pet was sick and there was poop all over the screen. I was like “WTF.” and immediately attended to my, um, baby. Heh.

After a few hours Rio – yes you can give names to your pets now – took a nap, woke up and evolved into a Puchitchi. Then slept again because it was already past 8:00. I’m assuming that when the Tamagotchi is at this stage (Toddler stage, the instruction sheet calls it) sleeps early. I was rather saddened about this because I still wanted to log in to TamaTown again for more exploration.

So far he has 5 points in intelligence, 1 point in art and 5 points in social. I want him to become a teacher! I hope he grows up well to become one.

Oh, Everybody Cheats

Gamers that discover cheats or exploits of a certain game may not be able to resist not using them again. How can I tell? Well, I’m a gamer myself, and yes I do admit that when I discovered all the “resources” around me with regards to games, most of the time I refer to them to get a little hand in finishing the game, or catch up on the standard. From simple games like The Sims 2 which the cheats seem to be harmless to complex games – particularly MMORPGs – like Ragnarok Online where the exploits affect the game in a rather big scale, God knows how many times I’ve cheated.

Cheats seem to be a metaphorical representation of an easy way of doing things, like a shortcut. Although another thing I realized as a gamer is that playing the game with your own knowledge, skills and wit and without the cheats is actually more fun, entertaining and rewarding. I’ve tried playing The Sims 2 without any cheats, and yes it was really hard but it also came to me that Maxis and Electronic Arts balanced the game pretty well. Back in the beta days of Ragnarok Online, where bots weren’t in the vocabulary of the gaming community, I felt really fulfilled when my Acolyte changed into a Priest. It was a rather big achievement for me that time, and I was proud that my first character wasn’t touched by a bot from Level 1 to 99.

In the Philippines, cheating is so existent. Stores cheat their customers with low quality / imitation goods, politicians adding votes to theirs and subtracting the competition’s, drivers not following road signs and road regulations, students copying answers from their peers, the list goes on.

Our mentality? “Oh, everybody’s doing it, so why can’t I?” Shoot me now because I’m guilty. Cheating isn’t just small talk folks, you might think that it affects no one, especially in games, but actually it always affects at least one person: you. You’re the only one cheating yourself. Depriving yourself of the challenges and possibly the truth. Things in life are better learned the honest way, and this path to take isn’t always easy, but once it’s over, the reward is going to feel so great. If you can’t give up cheating because of the good effects it has for you, have second thoughts of what it does for other people. Think of how it feels if you’re cheated.

Flairville!

Alas, because of my blockmate I got the sims fever again. Yes, The Sims 2. This time, I’ve decided to create my own neighborhood from scratch – using the sample.sc4 terrain file. In alignment with the neighborhood I’ve also decided to create some sort of series to go with it in comics. It might take a while before I’m able to set up all of the families, the neighborhood, the homes and of course-the plot. Here’s a sample of what I’ve done so far.

I do hope this minor project of mine will come true. Work is currently in progress!

Celebrating the Birth of a Laptop

In celebration of my spanking brand new laptop and a copy of Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended, I created this Charmed Wallpaper to fit my laptop’s widescreen. You can use it if you like. The dimensions are 1280 x 800. If your widescreen computer has this resolution, you’re in luck and we have something in common. Get you computer kicking demon butt with this wallpaper, lawl.

Strangely enough my laptop made itself fail on its first day – it had some sort of driver failure after me installing Alcohol 120% 1.9. Perhaps it’s because this computer’s OS is Windows Vista? Ragnarok Online should run fine on my laptop – and yeah it runs, but the blank pixels become transparent. I don’t know why… It’s not because this computer’s DirectX 10, right? Whatever. This is supposed to be a “work” laptop anyway, I should concentrate more on the programs I need for school and such.

Birthday Booze

My 18th birthday was quite special in the sense that I got to spend the day with my sister’s friends. It turns out that Jack and Ian were both my sister’s ex-boyfriend’s barkada, and they got close eventually they both became my sister’s barkada too. Anyway, that was a pretty good background for my new friends that I made during that day. It was really, really hilarious when they started joking around. Especially during our semi-dinner at Icebergs.

I turns out that Jack and Ian were both into girls (or so it seems). And they were talking about some girl named Candy that they both had the hots for before. Ian was the first one to be interrogated, though we (my sister and I) believed him when his act of treating his whole office in front of that certain girl named Candy was just some sort of mistake. We interpreted it to be some act to impress that girl, but it wasn’t supposed to be that way (according to Ian’s explaination). We later then knew that Jack slept at Candy’s house.

When Ian said that phrase my sister and I started laughing really, really hard and our eyes were starting to drip tears because of so much laughter. My sister couldn’t breathe, literally. And I was making really weird sounds because of too much laughter. Achi (a Chinese Fukien term for sister, which I call mine) thanked them because it was a pretty long time since she laughed so hard.

Jack kept dodging our question if something happened at Candy’s house. But I ordered a Chocolate German boat. I saw a flag attached to it and gave it to my sis and she started waving the flag in front of Jack’s face and began singing “ISAAANG BANDIIIILA~!!”. We were laughing until we got inside the car.

After some shopping at a nearby SM we proceeded to Pier1 for our official dinner. We ordered lots of stuff (but enough to leave space for the booze!)! Sisig and of course Calamares were included in our food choices. Dinner wouldn’t be dinner without those two dishes. After consuming our food we started to drink the night away. It really pissed me off though because there was a liquor ban that was implemented to start at around 11:00pm that day. It was because of the elections – the government probably didn’t want voters to be voting under the influence of alcohol.

So we started drinking rather early, at 9:00 pm. We ordered Blue Margarita and Tropical Vanilla for starters. The later was really delicious, but it was bitter at first. Blue Margarita didn’t agree too well with my taste buds, no matter how many or how less I try to drink. We then ordered Zombie for our third drink. Zombie was really bitter at first, but on my second glass it became so sweet I drank almost half of the pitcher we ordered. Then the finale – The Slammer! THE SLAMMER WAS AWESOME. IT TASTED AND FELT AWESOME. Lol.

After a few minutes I started to feel tipsy and drowsy! It was really fun though. My mind and will were still in tact though, but my sister started to behave really histerically and became really funny. Good thing I was sleeping at Banaue for the rest of the week.

Top 10 Junk Food

Everyone has a share of their day eating junk food. Admit it, you’re not the perfect eater eating all those stuff from the food pyramid. Balanced diet? Hah! What’s a diet without junk food! Especially if you’re living in a country like the Philippines, I doubt that you’ll run out of junk food in your pantry while you’re here. Anyway, here I go with my top 10 junk food. There are local and imported selections, so for random visitors around the globe, you might not recognize all of them.

10. Oishi Prawn Crackers (Spicy Flavor)

Here comes an innovation from a classic snack that everyone’s loved for years. Take the classic flavor, add in some chili powder, and you’ve got a new snack. Yay! Oishi snacks have always been in my favorites, and this particular snack takes the first spot on my list. Gotta love that really spicy flavor when you eat this stuff. When I say really spicy, it is, but it’s really fun to eat if you have enough water or soda to go with it. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend eating one on your own.

9. Chips Delight Chocolate Chip Cookies (Chocolate Striped)

Chocolate lovers like myself should love the Chocolate striped version of Chips Delight Cookies. We’re talking about really cheap chocolate indulgence here, chocolate fans. It’s not too sweet, nor is it bitter. Just the right combination for a tall glass of chocolate milk! Yum! Now that’s more like it. You can’t go overboard with chocolate, right? But the fun doesn’t stop ther,

8. Curly Tops

Like I said, you can’t go overboard with chocolate. Ricoa Curly Tops sure does hit the spot… I prefer it before most other chocolate though. I wonder why? Is it the name? Is it the ironically flat tops it has even though the product name is curly tops? Is it the cheap chocolate? I don’t know! It’s just delicious!

7. Nova Chips (Country Cheddar)

Food technologists must have outdone themselves to create a snack like Nova. It’s said to be healthy because it has grains like the one you find in granola bars. The calories are quite a low number compared to other junk food too. The taste? It made #7 on my list, I’m sure it’s going to be on your list too.

6. Mirinda Orange

What’s junk food time without a soda? As for soda, I’d prefer to have my Mirinda, please. Any flavor of Mirinda would do actually, but I especially prefer the classic orange. It goes lovely with Oishi or Nova.

5. E-Aji (Purple)

I like most E-Aji combinations, but I really like the purple colored one. It a mayonnaise-barbecue dip that goes really well with the nacho chips. I can eat lots of these, actually. I don’t know but the dip seems to be addictive that most of the others are. Perhaps I just like mayonnaise.

4. Ruffles

“Ruffles have ridges!” That’s right! It’s really, absolutely perfect for dipping! I usually make homemade dips like mayo-garlic and cheese-chili. When I’m not in the mood to make a dip it’s perfect alone because it’s really crunchy and it still tastes great plain.

3. Piattos (Sour Cream n Onion)

As I kid I loved Piattos. But when it released a Sour Cream n Onion variation I loved it even more. It’s really crunchy and the thin chips makes it sure that you taste the flavor of the chips.

2. Cheetos

Dangerously cheesy? Yep, it is. It’s really, really addictive. If I open a bag of these I usually finish it all up in just one go and I don’t have to place it inside a container for storage.

1. TORTILLOS (CHEESE FLAVOR)

GRANNY GOOSE WINS! Tortillos is my all-time favorite snack. It’s awkward cheese variation is somewhat a combination of barbecue, cheese and sour cream. I don’t know if it’s just me. I really like this snack! I can eat 2 big bags of this if I’m really hungry or have nothing to do. When you give me a bag of Tortillos and a litre of Mirinda on a regular day, you can make that day special. Lolol.
